About Terracotta

You know that feeling when you walk into a space filled with thriving plants? That sense of calm, that connection to nature, that feeling of "yes, this is exactly right." That's what you want for your home or business.

But bringing nature indoors isn't always simple. Between choosing the right plants, finding beautiful pots, and figuring out where everything should go - it can feel overwhelming. And let's be honest: nobody wants to invest time and money just to watch their plants struggle.

That's where Terracotta comes in. We believe everyone deserves to live in a space that feels alive and vibrant, without the stress of becoming a plant expert overnight. We've done the research and have the expertise to help you create thriving indoor environments that bring nature's beauty and benefits into your everyday life.

Our Story

Terracotta was born during the challenging days of 2020, when founder Eben Forrest began selling houseplants from a picnic table outside of his Boulder home. Drawing on his rural Maine upbringing and lifelong connection to gardening, Eben recognized the profound connection between plants and mental wellbeing. As a wellness practitioner, he saw firsthand how bringing a touch of nature indoors could offer positivity and hope during difficult times.

From these grassroots beginnings, Terracotta quickly flourished into a full-service indoor plant boutique on Pearl Street, committed to teaching customers proper plant care using organic materials. In 2021, the team grew when Jen Moss, a fellow Maine native with a background in professional baking, discovered Terracotta and found her calling in the plant world. Bringing her passion for biophilic design and tropical plants, Jen joined the management team and helped expand Terracotta's vision.

In 2024, Eben and Jen's shared passion for plant design led them to become business partners. Together, they made the strategic decision to close the retail shop and transform Terracotta into a specialized design studio focused exclusively on what they love most: creating beautiful plant arrangements for homes and businesses throughout Boulder, Denver, and beyond.

Our team continues to grow while staying true to our founding vision: that caring for plants is therapeutic, that nature belongs indoors, and that what the world needs is more connected people. Through our designs, we bring the calming, restorative power of plants into homes and workplaces, creating spaces that truly feel alive.
